When the roller shutter with the large fly747 logo on it opens, you will experience an atmosphere that will quickly cast a spell over you. With passion and attention to detail, a cosmos was created around an original Boeing 747-400 cockpit during the Corona period, which is now in use as a state-of-the-art flight simulator.
In fact, two original jumbo cockpits await you in the fly747 hangar. A Boeing 747-200, which was used as a freighter by Air France Cargo, and a Cathay Pacific Airways 747-400 passenger aircraft. In the course of 2020, the two historic beauties found their way into our hall on heavy-duty transporters.
While the -200 cockpit stands out with its characteristic silhouette, the 400 cockpit is hidden in a light-protected box – because this is where the actual simulator is located.
Your instructor will be waiting for you at check-in.
During the briefing, he will explain the most important instruments to you, depending on your previous knowledge, and give you a brief introduction to aerodynamics. This is the best way to prepare you for your flight as a Boeing 747-400 pilot.
Whether you come alone or as a couple – an accompanying person is always welcome and included in the ticket price. Other spectators can also follow the action from outside on large televisions.
Here we go. You enter the darkened cockpit. Buttons and switches light up everywhere. The view of the apron is unobstructed. An impressive 240-degree panoramic view of the screen makes the illusion perfect. You quickly forget that you were just standing on the floor in a hall. Preparations for take-off are in full swing on the tarmac.
The instructor will accompany you on your simulator flight with competence and empathy. Would you like to know everything in detail, e.g. what a loadsheet is for or what performance is all about? Or would you rather go sightseeing in the evening light over the Rhine plain? Or perhaps a visual approach to New York? Over the skyscrapers of Manhattan or the canarsie approach flown by the pros? Would you like to fly to your favorite island of Mallorca at sunrise and taxi to the parking position after landing? In principle, we can fly to any airport in the world, but we take off from San Francicso as standard. The view there is magnificent, and not just because of the photorealistic files.
We are happy to adapt to personal interests and previous knowledge. Let us know in advance what you have in mind and book the module that best suits your interests. We will do everything possible to make your flight experience unforgettable.
